Job Opportunity: Safety Officer in Kuruman, Northern Cape

A construction company in Kuruman, Northern Cape, is urgently hiring a Safety Officer for a 6-month housing project. The project is set to begin on 22nd September 2024, and the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, promoting safety initiatives, and investigating incidents on site. If you have experience in the construction industry and meet the requirements, this could be a valuable opportunity for you. Accommodation and transport will be provided.


Position: Safety Officer

Location: Kuruman, Northern Cape
Project Duration: 6 months
Start Date: 22nd September 2024
Salary: R15,000 per month (accommodation and transport provided)


Requirements:

  • Education: Matric/Grade 12
  • Qualifications: OHS accredited qualification or certification
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in housing projects
  • Registration: Must be registered as a CHSO (Construction Health and Safety Officer) with SACPCMP
  • Skills: Strong communication skills in English, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF
  • Knowledge: Familiar with South African health and safety legislation

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the site complies with all safety regulations and standards
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, reporting findings to management
  • Lead safety meetings and train on-site representatives on safety initiatives
  • Promote a safe working environment for all staff
